We thank the Decatur Area Arts Council for hosting Gallery 510 Art & Framing’s October National. The exhibit is sponsored by the John Ullrich Foundation and the Come Together Be Empowered organization. During this month when we are bringing attention to Breast Cancer Awareness, Gallery 510 is recognizing an artist for their artwork on this subject. Artists from across the United States entered the October National. Over 40 pieces were chosen for the show. The works were juried by a committee and our judge, Jamie Kotawa, chose the winners. We thank our Program Chair, Carol Kessler for her hard work.

The October National is a celebration of originality and craftsmanship in any visual art medium. Artists from across the country are invited to share in this annual exhibition staged in the Anne Lloyd Gallery of the Madden Arts Center in Decatur, IL. For many years now the Come Together, Be Empowered organization (previously RACE for the Cure) has partnered with us to present an award for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Our judge, Jamie Kotewa, obtained her BFA degree in 2001 from Millikin University, and a Master of Arts in 2003 from Purdue University. She has taught all levels of art education in Illinois and exhibited throughout the Midwest. Jamie is currently the full-time art faculty with Spoon River College in Canton, Illinois.

October National is open to all artists 18 years old or over. Entries must be of original design. No giclee or other mechanical reproductions are allowed. Work must be executed within the last two years.
All media is accepted. Wall-hung or 2D artwork must be framed or gallery wrapped, wired, ready to hang and not exceed 60 inches wide or 96 inches high. 3D artwork must be self-standing or fit on a 36” x 36” pedestal. All artwork must be able to be handled by one person. No work can be suspended from the ceiling. Any accessories needed for display must be included. Pedestals are provided. The gallery reserves the right to install accepted works in a manner deemed necessary for exhibition and/or security reasons.
Awards for October 2020 are yet to be determined. There will be a Best of Show, recognition for Breast Cancer Awareness, and awards for 2D and 3D.
Entries are being accepted online now through CAFE (callforentry.org). Artwork will also be accepted by photograph or jpeg/pdf file on CD or by email. Entries will become the property of Gallery 510’s permanent collection unless appropriate SASE is included.
Artists may enter up to 3 pieces for a $30 entry fee. Two images per piece may be submitted to include a 2nd angle or detail.
The deadline for submissions for October National is July 7. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by email or post by August 1st. The artwork is due at Gallery 510 Art & Framing by September 19. The Opening Reception will be on First Friday, October 2nd.

A 50% commission will be taken on work sold at October National unless it is work by a member artist. Member artist work sold will have the regular commission taken. Artwork is not required to be for sale.
