Artist Profile
Gregory Pratt
I’ve had a camera in my hands since I was six years old. It has always been how I expressed my creativity and artistic visions.
This is done by capturing my creative visions with human subjects acting out my ideas in conceptual portraitures, or in the photos of the natural and manmade objects that I see in my daily travels.
I find inspiration for my work in poems, short stories, or story line concepts that I have written myself, or that I’ve read. I also find inspiration from the work created by artists that have influenced me.
My work ranges from conceptual portraitures, “americana” style manmade and natural subjects, and abstract works of these same styles, using in cameras techniques such as intentional camera movements and multiple exposures. I use editing software sparingly and try to create as much of the photo with the equipment I am using and the different subjects I’m capturing.
My goal with my art is to inspire and evoke emotion in the viewer. How their minds eye interrupts my work may not be the same vision I had when I created it, but if there is some type of reaction emotionally in the viewer, I have accomplished what I set out to do when it was created.
