Artist Profile
Alison Huckstep
I have loved art for as long as I can remember.
I took art all through school at Mt. Zion, and on into college at Millikin University, where I obtained my Bachelors of Fine Art degree in 2009. There, I started with figurative works then transitioned into abstract. My strong love for abstract art is the vibrant color and expressive brushstrokes. It is objective, which is important to give the viewer something to think about and interpret in their own way. I love to create art that will spark a conversation and get people to ask questions. I work with bold color and expressive, gestural movement. Recently, I am trying my hand at figurative works again, which has been a lot of fun. My paintings are inspired by the beauty and complexities of nature, the world around us, German abstract expressionists, and the intuitiveness of my own psyche.
